Foam board is available in regular and acid-free versions. Both have
dense foam centers. Regular foam board has white, clay-coated paper on both
sides. The acid-free foam board was designed for use when archival considerations
are important. Its extruded polystyrene is laminated between two sheets
of acid-free barrier paper that have been buffered. The pH range is 7.5
to 8.5. Foam boards have many uses besides backing or filling. The most
common use of foam board in the framing industry is full-surface mounting
of inexpensive prints or posters. This prevents wrinkling but creates a
permanent bond. We do not recommend this with original art.
Custom cutting is also available.
