We custom milled this frame for the "Light Years: Conceptual Art and the Photograph 1964 – 1977" exhibition at The Art Institute of Chicago which is on exhibit until March 11, 2012. Our recto verso frame was designed so the artwork could be viewed from the front and the back. The base can be screwed into a vitrine or table for security. When installing the artwork, one needs only to unscrew the base section and slip the artwork package into the the frame and then screw in the bottom frame section. The top sections of the frame are splined and have no nail or screws showing. The frame sits inside a base and is secured to the base with horizontal screws. The screws are covered by a thin wood sleeve that goes over the base hiding the screws.
TURNING THE CORNER. This particular one was very challenging. A customer who specializes in large scale photography prints asked us to make a frame that goes around the corner of a wall. The final frame was 33" high and the length was 61 1/2" on one side and 92" on the other side. The frame was finished in white with matching spacers and strainers for additional support in the back. This is the prototype we made. We do not recommend doing this at home. This is a project for experts.

VINTAGE FRAMES Museum and Traveling Exhibitions often require replicas of vintage frames. These period frames were custom millled and custom finished for the exhibition Foto: Modernity in Central Europe, 1918–1945 at the National Gallery of Art. They were made for Andre Kertesz photos from his earlier Hungary period and his later Paris work. The Hungary frame is a charcoal finish on cherry. The Paris frame is an hand rubbed piano finish. Because we are a manufacturer, you can specify the profile, wood, and finish.
