ARCHIVAL HINGING TAPES

Pressure sensitive archival tapes archival hinging tapes have become very popular because they are acid-free and easy to apply. Water activated archival tapes are recommended on heavier artwork that require a stronger bond and the contact to water does not have a negative effect on the artwork.

ARCHIVAL MOUNTING CORNERS

Archival mounting corners are used to securely hold photos and artwork to the backing board under window mats. The corners are made of 100% crystal clear safe polypropylene.

ACID FREE LINEN TAPE

This acid free linen tape is made of a white cotton cambric cloth with a neutral pH water activated adhesive. The adhesive combined with the fabric makes for a very strong bond and it is recommended for hinging window mats to backing boards.

MUSEUM HINGING MATERIALS

Metropolitan carries a variety of museum hinging materials and tools for hinging fine art with Japanese papers and wheat or rice starch paste. We sell hinging weights, blotter papers, hinging separators as well as a spatula, and a burnishing bone to make the job easier.

STRAP HANGERS

We recommend strap hangers rather than screw eyes for attaching hanging wire to the frame because they lie flat against the back of the frame and won't scratch the wall.

PICTURE FRAME WIRE

Metropolitan carries 3 sizes of picture frame wire to frame light to very heavy frames. It is a plastic coated (making it is super soft to protect your fingers) and stranded stainless steel picture frame wire.

ARCHIVAL DUST COVER TAPES

Tyvek dust cover tapes are recommended for sealing the back of your picture frame package. They are available in 1", 1 1/2", and 2 1/4" widths.

FLOREAT PICTURE FRAME HANGERS

Floreat picture frame hangers are imported from Germany and are considered the finest picture frame hangers available. They are brass plated with super thin tempered steel nails which, when removed, make the smallest of holes. Ideal for sheet rock and plaster walls. The knurled heads make removal easy by merely twisting the nail. Available in 10, 20, 30, and 50 lbs picture frame hangers to hang light to heavy pictures.
